Back home now - everything is fine :-)
Now I will start my usual live again - but that don't means you cannot read more news here...
Watch out the site also next time!
Hurry up and go to the airport...
Good bye asia - it was a wonderful time. I'sad I have to go, but I'm also happy to come back home again.
I'm preparing my luggage...
In the photo album you can find the pics of my today's visit in the olympic stadium "birdnest", which was built for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. It is impressive.
Also there you can find a lot of photos as a memory to my full trip. My lovely assistant Mickey Mouse "Mickey the boss" was on every important place I visit my photo model. Here you can see you now all the pics with him... enjoy!
Today is the last day in Beijing before tomorrow monday I will fly back to Zurich again. Many memories, impressions and experiences of the last three and a half months are in my thoughts and I am happy to have made this trip. I have learned so much, seen and known so many people - it's been an unforgettable adventure. Tonight, the last time I will now see the sunset here in Beijing and then hopefully on Monday also in Zurich.

And the reality comes already back to me - here in Beijing cold like in Switzerland... Winter clothes are needed. But sunshine and blue sky here.
Today I have arrived from Hanoi in Beijing, Here is the starting and final point of my long trip. Now I will still her and enjoy a few days to laze, shop, look at some things and eat well before I will fly back home with the Airbus A380 on 7th march.
Hanoi was also very interesting and deserves a few more days ... there are not sooo many things to see in the city but you can go to many trips around there, for example to the coast. One reason to come here again ...
Vietnam has impressed me particularly because of the very friendly people. I had many interesting conversations on the street and have a any new friends found here. Nice that the youth is willing to forget the chaos of war in the past and to build up a good future with studying and working. Almost forgotten is the rivalry between the North Hanoi and the South Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh himself, the former great leader, is in Hanoi extremely important, because his embalmed body is laid out there in the mausoleum. Impressive, as the masses go there every day except Monday and Friday for three hours in the morning and go around in two rows for visit the leader of the country. His former home and workplace is right next door there and also interesting to see.
On my last evening, I visited the famous water puppet theater. This is every day sold out for several performances and funny and entertaining.
Now is 6;30 in the morning. I arrived right now here in Hanoi after 31 hours in the train from Ho Chi Minh City. First I will take a shower now and sleep a little bit :-)
And I'm very happy - already more than 1000 visitors on my website here!
Today I was on a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels near Ho Chi Minh City. These are the narrow tunnel, which the Vietnamese soldiers used in the war first against the French and later the Americans. This system was over 200km long and they could surprise the enemy again and again and were also safe from bombs and gas attacks (see further information at photo 1 in the gallery). It is a depressing feeling of being in a place where so many people died, where one of the most terrible war has been raging - but it's interesting and instructive, and urges to peacefully live together!
The first two days in Ho Chi Minh City - or Saigon how many Vietnamese still say - were again very exciting and educational. Because I saw very much already during long trips by motorbike at day and at night. So I have already received great impressions from different parts of the city - and I am impressed. I had always thought that it can not have more motorbikes anywhere than in Indonesia or Taipei, but here are still many more :-) It would be difficult or impossible to drive a car here for us Swiss - and even to cross a main road as a pedestrian takes some courage at first, then resolve and clarity.
Yesterday and today I can meet friends and get to know their families. First Jonhny, who is a young and talented singer and today my friend Tien, who lives in Zurich and right now visit his family here. Both times were very cordial meeting and I was entertained and questioned. These are simply memorable experiences, which I don't want to miss. And in the circle of people here I can learn and understand so much - it's great.
The problem of "mobile phone" has also found a good solution because Tien can borrow me an old one of him - that's great!
Tomorrow I will go again to the family of Jonhny who invited me for dinner. I am happy!
The week in Cambodia was very eventful, interesting and impressive. The country and the good people there, it gave me a very good feeling. Special there is that you pay anywhere in U.S. dollars. But you get money back to whole dollars in Cambodia Riel - that means, sometimes you pay in two currencies, or get money back in two currencies.
Siem Reap and Phnom Penh are - compared to Laos - very advanced. The country is in a great development and I have the impression that people want to help much to realise projects for a better future.
Yesterday I went by Tuk Tuk down to the airport and had another 45 minutes just for enjoy life on the road. Then a short flight of 45 minutes to Ho Chi Minh City.
On the flight I met the chairman of a textile company in Korea and Vietnam, Mr Kim. He has given me many interesting information and also offered me to ride in his car to the city and hotel. Was great to go with a chauffeur in a beautiful limousine to the city. Thank you so much Mr. Kim!
Today I have only a "small " problem ... I bought a SIM card with a vietnamese number, but it does not work in my iphone ... Now, later I have to go to the Ben Thanh market and buy me for three, four francs a "new" phone ...
Cambodia is again different than anything before ... Siem Reap is a beautiful, partly old and partly modern town with friendly people. It happens very often on here that you start just to chat with people on the street and then suddenly one hour is over. The Old Market offers many incredible Traditional and handmade very beautiful items. After the market you can find a lot of restaurants and bars in the streets - almost like somewhere in the Mediterranean. And there are fish massage for the feet - just purely legs in the big aquarium and the fish touch you half an hour :-) Again, it is imperative to visit one of the many massage studios for a traditional khmer massage.
The day trip to Angkor Wat was extremely impressive - this is really one of the wonders of the world and almost can not imagine how it must have been here in earlier time. After a visit there, it is understandable why this place is the national symbol of Cambodia.
Tomorrow morning I will continue my trip and go to Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. I travel by boat, by 7 clock start at the pier. This is also a fast boat, but much larger and more comfortable than the one in Laos. The journey begins on a river that leads into the largest lake in Southeast Asia, the Tonle Sap Lake. After crossing the lake from north to south, it goes to the Tonle Sap River to Phnom Penh next, where I will arrive after approximately 6 hours.
Right now arrived here in Siem Reap, Cambodia after a nice flight. Also hot here... I will go now for short time to the pool in my small but very nice hotel here and after for a walk around in the city center.
Here I am again ... Right from the natural paradise in Laos. This country offers a beautiful and unspoiled landscape in many places. The contrast to the north of Thailand is seen mainly in poverty - many people, especially those who live along the Mekong River, are very poor and live in disgusting conditions. Nevertheless, all bestow happiness and willingness to host!
Yes - and two days ago, I decided spontaneously, not to use the "Slowboat" on the Mekong River but to go with the "Speedboat" the same distance in just 6 hours. This is not without risk - small boat, only 6 or 7 passengers, helmet, life jacket on and earplugs in ... and then we go with hell speed. Again and again it has rocks and shoals in the river, making the risky journey. And sitting is not more comfortable with the time... But when we - five Austrians, one Dutch and I - arrived at Luangprabang we all were happy :-) So had the opportunity to spend a day there and I must say that I have to stay there longer next time. You can undertake many interesting excursions - but it was now too busy.
Yesterday evening then, a short flight from the "Prabang International Airport" to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Located directly on the Mekong River - and on the other side of the river is already Thailand. Now I'm right back from a walking trip through the city and completely destroyed - it's so hot here and I need a break in my huge hotel room here after writing this. The room is about 50m2 big... for only 33 US-dollar a night. In the evening I will upload the photos from the trip on the Mekong, from Luangprabang and Vientiane.
After the "showtime" in Phuket and the big city Bangkok is it here in Chiang Rai in the north of Thailand more quiet and comfortable. This smaller city has a special atmosphere and the people are very friendly.
Chiang Rai is located 730 kilometers from Bangkok and lies at an altitude of 580 meters in the middle of the magnificent mountain scenery of the Golden Triangle on the right bank of the Maenam Kok, a tributary of the Mekong. Chiang Rai is the northernmost capital city of Thailand.
Yesterday was a beautiful day with temple visits and the grand finale at Khun Korn waterfall in the middle of the rain- and bamboo forest. Today I just enjoy the sun here, will spend some time at the pool and again go to the thai massage. And, as always, will have some good asian food here. Tomorrow morning then I will go first by mini-bus to the border of Laos. There, I have to solve a visa and - by 10 clock - departure by boat on the Mekong River to Luangprabang direction. It takes one and a half days with an overnight stay somewhere along the way in a small town. After arriving Luangprabang, I will immediately go to the airport and fly in the evening to the capital of Laos, Vientiane. Let's see, what to expect in these next days everything ...
Actually there is only one thing that annoys again and again - cab driver and taxi companies… it's really unbelievable, what they try to do anytime… In Phuket is no taxi with meter avalaible for the way to the airport… and they offer only fixed prices, but every other one you ask give you a higher price : -) However there is no other possibility to go this 40 km for the airport.
Then after a beautiful flight the unbelievable story of Bangkok: You must get a ticket at the airport for a taxi with taxi meter, that's usual. 50 Baht additional price already before start " for the driver". After, my driver comes, I enter the cab and he get a note with the destination from the counter. So far so well - however he speaks no word english, and he looks like as on drugs - but start to drive then straight on. Approximately after 15 minutes he stops at the roadside and studies disbelievingly the note. He doesn't have any notion where he must go. So we ask a pedestrian, she can speak english and explains the way to him. I say her that he must start the meter from new because during the stay the meter goes and goes… He do that and we continue the drive… After more than one hour! I see a place, where we were already before. So I say " Stop! ". He stops, ask again a food dealer on the road for the way… I say to the dealer that he shall make a call to the hotel… not possible, because his mobile phone has no more credit! So I was pissed on so much, toke my luggage and stoped another taxi. Naturally I don't payed the first one… The new driver insures me that he speaks english and he knows the destination… And after 10 minutes he stopped and asked someone at the road. I can't believe that... At least he can call… Finally we also found the hotel - after over 2 hours trip from the airport. I want to pay him and he really had the idea I should also pay for the call he made tothe hotel for find out the way: -) I didn't made it for sure.
Well - what is the final result of all this: Long travel time, but favourable price for the transfer.
Yesterday and today I visited some interesting places here like the Wat Pho temple with the 45 meters long lying Buddha and also the Grand Palace, where in former times the king resided. Then a night market yesterday and today another very big market. Bangkok is an interesting city and better to stay here for a long time because there are many many interesting places to go. But I must take some decicions what I want to see because of my travel schedule. Tomorrow I will fly to the north of Thailand - to Chiang Rai.
Phuket is for sure always good for a journey! Completely different world than to other places I was till now - with nightlife, bars and also many tourists. Naturally also beautiful is to relax on the beach during the day - but, here are too many tourists particularly from Europe. I really prefer to spend time with native ones and can leaarn something from these people about their place. Today I had a good breakfast and after I was in a one-hour thai massage and again on the beach. In one hour now I have to leave here already and the metropole of Bangkok waits for me. At 5:30 pm my flight will start… See you soon again here!
HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to everybody!

Today means to say Good Bye Malaysia and it goes to Phuket. The luggage is ready and at 3:45 pm is my flight first back to Kuala Lumpur and after to Phuket. Arrival time there is at 8:40 pm. After that will go by taxi to Patong Beach where I will stay till 3rd of february.
Today was also one of these days I will never forget. First of all because that I was a part in a beautiful and instructive river trip on the Klias River and second, because I had possibility again to know new people from different countries. That gives always interesting discussions and new informations. Along the river we saw different kinds of monkeys… funny to see, how the jumped and climb around in the trees. In the evening then - after dinner on board - the eyes of thousands of bats sparkled in the darkness. Impressing!
Borneo is a paradies in nature and it's really better to stay longer here. So you could also climb to the Mount Kinabalu, go inside of the island where perhaps you will see Orang Utas. Maybe next time!
Tomorrow I go very early in the morning to the sundays market here. This "pasar" must be somewhat special… After this will go swim again to one of the small islands, but not sure now - and pick up my cleaned clothes in the laundry is also a must for tomorrow : -)
Two beautiful and experience-rich days in Sabah are past… yesterday the relaxing visit on the island Manukan and today the full day trip into the rain forests around the Mount Kinabalu. Nature is impressive - so many different plants, everything is colored and green… In the afternoon it came rain very very strong. But that gave a more stronger feeling of the rain forest only. Here on Borneo I also could spend weeks...
Because of the bad connection with internet it was not possible to upload my photos yesterday evening. So I do that now...
I have save arrived here in Kota Kinabalu on Borneo.
Kuala Lumpur is a beautiful city! Mix from hectic and chaotic Jakarta and over-adjusted Singapore. It has much green here, the people are friendly and it's safe on the road. And there are some interesting places to see for sure: Petronas Twin Towers, Chinatown, different mosques and naturally also a lot of shopping malls. And simply wonderful are the road kitchens and restaurants - just to sit outside in the evening and enjoy a good fish or other asian food specialities. For later in the evening there are also many pubs, where it's a must to drink a good beer. Yes, and then comes fast already 2 or 3 o'clock in the morningwhen going back to the hotel.
Yesterday I met a friend here. He is a nice singer here from Malaysia. We drank coffee and had a nice and interesting smalltalk. Naturally I'm proud to got a signed CD of him with his newest songs. I hope, we can see us again this evening before I will fly tomorrow morning to Borneo.
Yes - was three o'clock in the morning when I was in bed and at 6 o'clock the alarm was ringing already again. Because I wanted visit the Twin Towers and there, each day only a limited number of tickets will be admitted. I spent then 2 hours waiting time there before I was finally a happy owner of an entrance ticket. It's interesting to go over the bridge between the two towers and enjoy the sightseeing over the city. On level 41 and 176 meters highly. The towers itself are wonderful in the night time with the lighting.
It's really beautiful here - but however, my trip will already continues and I have to go to Borneo (Kota Kinabula). There wait beautiful beaches for me, but also mountains where Orang Utas lives. I hope I may look into the eyes of one…
Right now arrived in Kuala Lumpur... after a 5 hours trip by bus. First I planed to go by train to here. But this needs 3 hours more and is also more expensive. The bus fare was only 25 US-Dollar and was very comfortable.
Now I will still upload any photos of Singapore and after go sleep...
Since 2 days I'm now in Singapore and just enjoy this special city here in my luxury hotel with park and big pool on the roof in a height of 200 meter (just check out the photos in the german version). More pics from Singapore will post tomorrow after arriving in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
Back to Medan. This four hours drive back was really more comfortable and the driver more carefull and friendly. In the photo album again some impressions of Lake Toba - a wonderful place!
Tomorrow early in the morning I will fly to Singapore. There will spend for one time three luxury days...
Morning 10 o'clock, blue sky, sunshine - I sit in the Internet shop in Tuk Tuk on the island Samosir, in the middle of the big volcanic Lake Toba in the north of Sumatra. The trip from Medan to here two days before in the mini bus was an adventure for itself - a crazy driver and some dangerous situations. Well, after 4 hours we were here and the ferry brought me to the island. After I had to select one of the many hotels there. I found a beautiful room directly at the lake for about 10 Dollar the night.
Yesterday I tried to rent a Motorbike with driver for go around the island. But that was everywhere too expensive - so I walked simply a bit outside of the village Tuk Tuk and after someone with the motorbike stopped and spoke with me on the road. And that was large luck for me. He made a trip with me for a good price and was genuinly nice. I became acquainted with its family and was invited in the evening there in his house for dinner. That was at the end a really unforgettable day with new friends.
We drove to the other end of the island to the Hot Springs. This was a drive from more than one hour. There I was relaxing at pool in the hot water. We climbed also up to the source of hot water at the mountain. And there the water was really very hot - I burned little bit my foot because I weared only light footwear. A hot experience there…
Today I will got to a smaller trip again with Tagor and when back to hotel I will go swim again in the wonderful water of the Lake Toba.
In about 20 minutes I will go by minibus to Lake Toba. This is the biggest and deepest volcano lake in southeast asia. I will be back in Medan on wednesday afternoon. Not sure I will have internet connection there... If not - see you again on wednesday... :-)
Medan - much quieter as in Jakarta, sunny and hot... people here are very friendly and they speak often with me on the street. I'm happy here. I have uploaded some photos from yesterday as an impression of here. Today I will visit some interesting places around the city. Tomorrow morning I will take the public bus for go to Lake Toba - that needs about 4 hours to drive. This volcano lake is the biggest and deepest one in southeast asia. In the middle of the lake is a big island which I will visit. I'm looking forward to a new adventure!
The three days in Jakarta were soso lala… interesting and full with experiences, much seen and learned in the museums and on the trips in this big city. But even also not so comfortable because of my stomache problems and the medicine I have to take against it - simply always a bad feeling and no energy. But today is already again much better as before. And for the dinner before I made the ultimative stomach test and ate a burger combo in McDonalds : -) Result: All ok! Tomorrow I plan to have a lazy day here at the pool and in the evening I will fly to Medan on Sumatra. I'm happy to know then also this part of Indonesia.
Yesterday I made a long trip by motorbike with a friend. All day long we was on the way. First to the Marapi volcano and then to the Buddha temple in Borobudur. That was everything rather impressive! To see, how after the volcanic eruption from October everything was destroyed from ashes and lava, makes me sad. The people their have lost everything. But it's impressing to see that people want rebuilt everything - despite the danger that the volcano belongs to the most active ones in the world. The ground was still warm, I felt it throught the soles of my shoes. At some places also still hot smoke comes out from the ground - really somehow uncanny. Later we drove 2 hours to the Borobudur temple, the largest Buddha temple of the world. It is exciting to see which buildings people setted up in the time about 800 after Christ. When we wanted to drive back home, the large rain came… the thunderstorm did not want stop and so we went back the whole way then with plastic rain protection. Afterwards immediately a hot shower for not coming sick. Since yesterday I have also big problem with my stomach. Last night I spent then more on the toilet than in bed. I hope that today now the medicines help, so that I can go to the train to Jakarta tomorrow morning without problems.
The first two days in Yogyakarta on Java are also already history. Yesterday I was walking in the city and saw a lot of markets, street restaurants and many more. Today I visited the hindu temple Pèrambanan and later a soccer goame of the indonesian league. On the way always as guest on a motor bike...
Hey - now I finally find time again to write here somewhat. I have three wonderful days in Flores and Komodo Iceland behind me and today was just time for sunbath and swimm at the Legian beach in Bali. Now I sit in a beautiful restaurant, ate Spare Ribs and enjoy a cold Bintang beer.
The island world of Indonesia is simply wonderful. Again and again new impressions, travel on the small wood boat, my nice companions Coleen and Peter from Sydney in Australia and the boat crew make this journey unforgettable. The jungle trips first on Rinca and then on Komodo were long and we sweat a lot; but it was beautiful. That I can have this experience to see these big dragons so close to me give me big satisfaction. These animals are unique and I will never forget it. Tomorrow now I will fly already at 6 o'clock to Yogyakarta on Java. That is this city, where in last october the large volcanic eruption was. Well - that means now: Prepare the luggage and go sleep very soon, because the alarm wake me up at 3:30…: -)
Today my 3-day-trip to Komodo Islands is starting. Now is 6:15 am and I will picked up for going to the airport. The komodo dragons are waiting for me... :-)
HAPPY NEW YEAR to everybody and the best wishes for 2011 !!!!

Now I'm in Bali, Indoesia... and it was crazy rain when I arrived here - last night and also this morning... But now the sun is shining and we have blue sky :-) The flight yesterday from Kuala Lumpur was 3 hours late so we arrived Denpasar at 0:30 after midnight. And till I came to my bed was 3 am ... But the resort here is really wonderful and I enjoy it now.
Travel day! I sit here at the airport in Clark nearby Manila and wait for the flight to Kuala Lumpurt. From there will go to Denpasar in Bali where I will arrive this evening.
Today is my last day in Manila… probably goes to the beach here. This city is mysterious… old and modern… sometimes dangerously also. I had already some bad experiences in these three days here - not too bad, but it reminds to be careful here all the time. Manila is partly very dirty and poor, other parts such as Makati are more clean and modern. Tomorrow morning I must go at 4.30 o'clock to the bus direction Clark international airport, about 80 km far away from Manila. Then I fly first to Kuala Lumpur and after to Bali, where I arrive in the later evening.
MERRY CHRISTMAS !
The four nice days in Lapu Lapu are already over. Now I have arrived here in Manila after a one day trip with "Superferry".
Any photos from the this are posted in the german version.
Just enjoy the sun, beach and pool... how nice! After in the afternoon was in body massage for 1,5 hours and later in the barber shope for haircut and shave. On the way back to hotel bought any food and drinks. That's all... :-)
I have arrived in Cebu in the Philippines... it's hot, sunny here with blue sky... and sea and beach :-)
But I feel very tired after a long night on airports and in the plane. So just have a break today and relax.
Todaz I toke the fastboat for go to Macau... and again was an interesting and impressive day. Now just surf in the internet at hotel lobby and after will go sleep. Oh - here my room is on the 21st floor and about 5 time bigger as the one before in Hong Kong... :-)
Many greetings from crazy Hong Kong… this city is simply unbelievable. So many people on such as small place, that looks sometimes little bit terribly to me. My super small hotel room on the 6th floor of a large building is just ok to sleep... Oh, and yesterday was the coldest day in Hong Kong in december since 11 years (5,5°). The copy market named "Ladies Market" is beside my hotel, there is really everything to buy :-) - good, I don't have lot of free space in my luggage. Tomorrow I will move by ferry to Macao, which is also famous as the "Las Vegas of China". I'm wondering, which adventures I will have there. Sunday night then I will fly to Cebu on the Philippines.
(for photos of hotel look in the german part)
And already again two beautiful and experience-rich days are history… Yesterday first the trip with the High Speed Rail from Taipei to Taichung. That was really very very fast - in such a way I would drive also in Switzerland rapidly to Geneva; about the price better I don't say to much - it's much cheaper as at home… Taichung is a nice city with old and new quarters. It is really fascinating again and again in a new city. Today then some trouble, because I had to change the tickets for the trains. Otherwise at Hualien at the east coast would have arrived much late. But was no problem. First again with the High Speed Rail, then from west to east side of the island and again direction the north with a "normal" train. The landscape changes again and again - it is unbelievably interesting. Yes - now I am in Hualien, it's seven pm here and I got a wonderful hotel room named "Romantic Room". Now I still go down to the sea and will eat someting special from Taiwan's kitchen. And by the way, during the day here is 25° warm.
I'm ready now for the trip by train around the island Taiwan. First from the north to the south by the High Speed Rail:
http://www.thsrc.com.tw/en/destinations/des_route.asp
On the way I will stay for one night and tomorrow will go back on the east side to the north and Taipei again.
Luggage is ready... Let's go right now!
The flight from Lhasa to Shanghai was beautiful. We flew from the mountains out to the mainland, right hand were the Himalaya mountains with snow to be seen. Arrived at Shanghai then for the first time something annoyance: The promised shuttle bus of the hotel was not there. Then goes by taxi… but the driver did not have any notion where the hotel is. Then call of me to the hotel, he spoke with the reception and drives then with detours to there - the price was expensive for sure. The hotel was also not really the best one… however, was only for one night.
Yesterday I flew to Taipei - here it's much warmer (approx. 20°). Yesterday I was visiting one of the famous night markets here and also in the digitial city. Today the visit of the presidential office was on program (see photos). That was really very interesting and instructive. After the tour the asked me for an interview inquired over Taiwan - I will post the link here later where you can see it. On 12th december I will start my trip around the island by the Taiwan High Speed Rail - first to the south of the island. On the west side I will come back later also by train - all this in three days
Tomorrow I must leave Lhasa already... and will fly to Shanghai for overnight there. After goes to Taipei in Taiwan. After a long night with friends, beer and karaoke was the schedule for today again the visit of palaces, monasteries and temples. Everything is very interesting, but also complicated... I learned a lot here.
Arrived at Lhasa, Tibet… An interesting city between old and new. Shaped by the faith of the people here. I wrote comments to the photos from the train trip and uploaded also any general photos from Lhasa.
Already checked out of hotel and now in Starbucks for make some internet stuff. Around 21.30 I will leave Beijing by train from the west railwaystation direction to Lhasa in Tibet. I will be on the way until sunday evening and will don’t have internet access this time. After the beautiful days in Peking I look forward to this new challenge.
Here still some information to the Tibet train:
Particularly for the requirements in this rough climate a modern train was conceived. The new diesel locomotive with the name " Xueyu Shenhao" (god of the snow area) has a maximum speed of 100 km/h. The train has two utility systems for oxygen. The railroad cars are sealed like a fuselage, so that with system an oxygen content can be achieved of up to 23% in the air of the cars. The second system puts similarly pure oxygen to the emergency system like in airplanes.

1st dezember 2010
Today I was on the Great Wall… an unbelievable experience and much impressing. To get there was not really easy - except you would book an expensive travel guide. The correct bus to find was an adventure for itself and took up already times 2 hours. But with ask and talk and show with signs I can come nearly everywhere. After one and a half hours by bus then the first highlight - no smog or fog, but steel-blue sky and sunshine. And the first impressions on the wall after an uphill drive with an attraction like in “Disneyland" were simpy beautiful. After a nice walk from about 2 km over the wall with lot of photos and talks with people there. And I tell you - so many and especially so steep stairs I was not running since long time… It was a very good idea to go there!
Here some information to the Great Wall:
The seven meters broad and seven meters high wall is the longest building of mankind. The length becomes estimated on approx. 6000 km, the air line between the terminator points amounts to 2,450 km. It was built starting from 220 before Christ in approximately 10 years with more than 300`000 workers and served than bulwark against martial nomades from Mongolia. Thousands of dead ones, which died during the construction work, were immured in the wall. The part of wall visited by me is in Badaling, approx. 70 km outside of the city.
Now I'm already almost one week in Beijing and fascinated by this city. There is so much to see… I enjoy the good meal, the beautiful weather and the busy life of the people here. Since yesterday it is somewhat foggy - or is it more smog? Before all days were beautiful with blue sky and sun. Why the fog comes especially now, when I want go on the CCTW Tower? From there you can enjoy the sightseeing over the city from the platform on 298 m. Tomorrow wednesday I plan to visit the Chinese Great Wall, that is approximately 70 km outside of the city. Yes - and on Friday evening my trip to Tibet will start already. The special permission is issued and nothing more should be a problem now. Today I will go one time again to a large clothe and shoe market and also to the eyeglass market - a large building only with opticians on several floors…
Savely arrived in Beijing. The flight in business class of the wonderful plane Airbus A-380 was really great and the food like in a first class restaurant. Never before I was during the flight in hope that it should not end in already six hours... Now I have checked in here in the Jing Ling Hotel. The weather is wonderful, sunny and not too cold. I will walk around now little bit.
Let's go...
Now I also have installed a VPN on my netbook. It's good for using the blocked sites like Facebook and Co. in China.
Now only four days left and I will start my trip... everything is prepared and I'm ready to go ;-) I will be happy to see a lot of signs in my guest book here and all visitors on this website are very welcome.
By train from Beijing to Lhasa
Ride the roof of the world - Tibet with the Tibet Railway - the highest and most spectacular rail link between the world.
A ride on the new railway to Tibet is 4'064 kilometers long. 90% of the route has proceeded at a height of about 4,000 m above sea level. Many huge viaducts, bridges and tunnels were built to the railway through the Kunlun mountains to the center of Tibet, the "roof of the world". With 5,072 m above sea level is the highest point on the circuit on Tanggu Pass and crowns the new route to the highest railways of the world.

STILL TWO MONTHS TO THE TAKE OFF !!!
Today a visit of the "Forbidden City" in the center of Beijing was on the program. A very interesting and historical round trip into the time of the Ming dynasty (1386-1644). Chinese people call it usually Gugong (emperor palace). Run, run, run… because there are extremely long ways :-) But it is worthwhile itself to look at the many buildings and places exactly.
